The Girl Scout Councils of California (GSCC) is a coalition of 11 California Girl Scout Councils that have united their approximately 250,000 girls and volunteers in order to shape public policy in California. As a united group, the Councils utilize their sterling reputation and collective membership levels to establish the GSCC as the leading organization for girls in order to advance and promote Girl Scout principles and ideas in California policy making. The majority of the GSCC's work is carried out by a professional legislative advocate, Ms. Katie Lucas. Ms. Lucas has extensive years of experience in the California political arena and she holds a degree in Government from California State University, Sacramento. Under the direction and supervision of the GSCC's Steering Committee and utilizing input from individual Councils, Ms. Lucas implements the GSCC's public policy legislative platform by supporting favorable legislation and neutralizing legislation that is detrimental to the GSCC and its legislative goals. She also promotes and enhances the awareness of GSCC through direct relationship building with policy makers and informational forums. . . |
